ND (1839-1840) GUATEMALA COUNTERMARK (174)9-J GUATEMALA COB 8 REALES  PCGS VG-10
    KM102
Jovel-Type III countermark. Weight: 26.22 gms. Type II Countermark; sun over mountains within circular border. Issued by decree of 2 May 1839 through 20 November 1840. Countermark applied to the reverse of a (174)9-J Guatemala cob 8 Reales of Ferdinand VI. The countermark is deeply impressed with bold details on a well worn crude host. The surfaces are relatively smooth with minor abrasions that one would expect to see for the grade displaying lovely rich mottled gray patina.
