    (24 mm; awarded to soldiers of the Guatemalan army in the war against Honduras and El Salvador (Ref: Guille p. 10; Ross Gt 4)
    In early 1863, Guatemalan president Rafael Carrera invaded El Salvador to depose the liberal president, Gerardo Barrios, and also the liberal president of Honduras , Victoriano Castellanos. After several bitter campaigns that often involved the execution of captured liberal troops, Guatemalan forces eventually subdued both of its neighbors.
